Clues 1 - 11: How much to insure a sailor?

In the first half of your adventure, you'll discover Victoria Square, Mill Hill Chapel and the Corn Exchange - once used across the country as a market place for items like corn, cotton and finances. With the growth of overseas travel, insurance first became popular when insuring a sailors life as he travelled across the treacherous seas… however… upon hearing just how much their husband's life was worth, many women resorted to murder in order to reap their hefty payout!

Take a Break!

Uncover the history of Leeds' oldest public house, Whitelock's Ale House - formerly named the Turk's Head when it first opened in 1715. The area around the pub is known as Turk's Head Yard as it was once a popular meeting place for merchants and market traders.

Clues 12-16: When a forger became an artist

In the second part of your adventure, you'll discover Leeds Cathedral and Leeds Art Gallery. Housed inside the gallery, you'll find works by Rodin (who eventually became one of the most forged artists in the world). Throughout history there has been a demand for forged art - Michelangelo even started as a forger before being asked to paint the Sistine Chapel!
